Why we started LedgerUp

We saw the problem firsthand

Revenue teams today are stuck stitching together a patchwork of systems. Contracts live in one tool, invoices in another, payments in a third, and customer data in a fourth. The result is hours lost reconciling spreadsheets, chasing approvals, and patching gaps. That is time that should be spent driving growth.

Our co-founders, Bailey Spell and Joseph Johnson, saw this problem firsthand. Bailey led AI product development at Microsoft before teaming up with Joe, a finance executive and controller, to run a bookkeeping and accounting business together.

In that work, they experienced the pain of fragmented revenue systems up close, from broken invoicing workflows to the constant grind of reconciliation.

And knew AI could do more than automate tasks

They came to the same conclusion: AI could do more than make billing faster. It could eliminate the patchwork altogether. By automating invoicing, collections, and reconciliations across systems, revenue teams could stop leaks, avoid bottlenecks, and focus on customers and growth.

Building the ops engine for revenue

LedgerUp was built to do exactly that. It connects the revenue systems companies already rely on, from Stripe and QuickBooks to Salesforce and DocuSign, into one intelligent system that enables contract-to-cash to run seamlessly from end to end.
